We're very excited to be welcoming Andrew McKechnie to Hand and Millar Management Consulting LLP.
Andrew is a recent graduate having obtained an MSc in Corporate Finance from Loughborough University. Before that he obtained a BA (hons) from the University of Stirling in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Andrew has also gained some experience abroad interning at a small Japanese Investment Bank, Aristagora Advisors. He was primarily focused on research for early round investment opportunities within Israeli technology start-ups, but also helped on various IPO’s.
Andrew plans to bring his experience in Finance and apply this to Hand & Millar, looking to develop and maintain a sustainable financial model. He’s also excited to understand and develop skills related to Programme and Project Management, working towards qualifications that will benefit himself and the clients he works with.
In his spare time, Andrew has taken a keen interest in playing Hockey, particularly at the University of Stirling. He is also a level 1 qualified hockey umpire, occasionally helping out umpiring a variety of league matches for his club and others too.
Matthew has gained a variety of experience across several different industry sectors. Matthew started his career by joining the Accenture Graduate Program in London where he joined the Telecommunication and High Technology Service Line working at Vodafone UK, Proximus Belgium, Cable & Wireless before moving to Financial Services where he has worked at Barclays, Provident Financial Group, Tesco Bank, RBS and Nationwide Building Society.
In Financial Services Matthew has specialised in Programme and Project Management working in both application and infrastructure deliveries. Matthew has worked in many international private and public sector projects in Australia, the US, Malaysia and South Africa. He has also worked extensively throughout Europe.
After work hours Matthew and has 3 young children which keep the weekends just as busy at the week. After 2020 he is aiming to get back into shape and gain a sub 3 marathon time before age gets the better of him.
Jaspal has gained a variety of experience across the private and public sectors. In the private sector Jas has undertaken a range of operationally focussed roles, including coaching and training large teams of employees. More recently, Jas has specialised in building capability in project, programme and portfolio risk management.
Beyond this, Jas is a keen scuba diver and has attained the BSAC Diving Instructor qualification. He also serves as the Chairman of his local BSAC diving club
Alex has a range of operational and change management experience in the delivery of technology services. He has developed and deployed change framework management products in risk, assumptions, issues and decisions across a £550m transformation portfolio in the financial services sector. He has also overseen business case production across a large and diverse IT estate ensuring scaled process and governance adhered to regulatory requirements. Alex is a qualified PRINCE2 practitioner.
Alex has particular interest in Risk Management in an Agile Environment, Learning from Experience lessons, Root Cause Analysis, New Ways of Working, and Commercial Management.
Richard is joining us directly from Nationwide Building Society, where he has been working within the Transformation Portfolio for 8 years, specialising in the creation and implementation of delivery assurance and governance frameworks to support business agility.
Richard has a varied operational and change background with a focus on building capability in both Defence and Financial Services. He has worked in Capability Integration within Defence before moving to Risk Management and Project Delivery roles in Nationwide Building Society. By focussing on the development of individuals he has built successful Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Offices as well as creating robust and resilient enterprise delivery risk teams. He has designed and implemented large scale Change and Controls frameworks, whilst looking to balance agility, assurance and governance. His broad business experience is backed up by a Masters in Business Administration and he is also a certified Scrum Master and SAFe Agile practitioner. He is a qualified and experienced risk practitioner and currently provides risk consultancy to a Wiltshire Multi Academy Trust, seeking to develop a pragmatic risk practises and culture. However, Richard’s main interest is in the building of strong and skilled teams and his Post Graduate Certificate of Education informs his teaching and coaching practice.
Francis has a breadth of project experience from both the public and private sectors, having served in the Army, the FMCG sector and then in the financial sector. He has in depth customer understanding and is highly experienced on building strategies developed on customer insight which bring absolute focus to business operations.
Starting his career attending Royal Military Academy Sandhurst he went onto serve in Bosnia as part of the UN and NATO peace implementation force. After 5 years of service Francis transitioned into the FMCG (Wine) sector initially with Grand Metropolitan (later Diageo) on business development strategies which included the launch of Blossom Hill which became the number one selling wine in the UK within 18 months. Francis went onto work for Allied Domecq Plc launching and developing a new business channel which then demerged into a separate trading business. He later went onto work as a consultant to Nyetimber, English sparkling wine, developing their business strategy making them a serious commercial competitor to leading Champagne houses. As a Director of an SME Francis led them through a de-merger and then acquisition.
Francis returned to his military roots working as Chief of Staff to Warminster Garrison overseeing numerous projects within a £7 Billion PFI before supporting the Army’s Continuous Improvement strategy through organisational learning.
Before joining Hand & Millar Francis worked as a consultant to Nationwide Building Society implementing the people and culture element of a large business change programme.

Andy has developed a wealth of experience working across the private and public sectors as a technical Programme Manager. Following service in the Royal Navy, Andy transitioned to civilian life, working first as a SCIDA within MoD. He then moved to a large government agency, where he became an Information Risk Management Practitioner, progressing to other roles within that organisation. He has delivered many projects in Networks, IT, Security and Change arenas. Most recently he has worked with BT, delivering network capabilities for the Metropolitan Police Service.
Outside of work, Andy brings his professional capabilities to bear in a voluntary role as the Chairman of the Village Hall. Andy and his team have transformed the asset to a profit-making enterprise enabling the team to reinvest in further improvements.
